Heroes of Conservation
Field and Steam launched “Heroes of Conservation” as an offshoot from a long running editorial column that ran exclusively in print. With the help of Toyota, the program was expanded to include video profiles of amazing “everyday” people who were dedicating their lives to conservation of wildlife. Out of the hundreds of entries submitted each year, only six “finalists” were selected. Two videos were created for each finalist. One looking at the person behind the project. The second looking at the project itself and it’s impact on the wildlife and surrounding communities. Toyota awarded five thousand dollars to each finalist to help with their programs and gave a Toyota Tundra 4×4 to the winner who was selected by the editors of Field and Stream. The series was hosted by Field and Stream “Editor at Large”, Eddie Nickens.
